What this is

Online Vision Test is a free, browser-based practice screener. It reproduces the order of a counter vision check — calibrate, stand back, cover one eye, read the smallest line — and adds the tests US licences and CDL medical cards care about: distance acuity, a Tumbling-E direction test, colour plates, peripheral awareness, near vision, contrast sensitivity, an astigmatism dial and a duochrome refraction screen.

What it is not

It is not an official DMV or DOT test, not a medical examination, and it cannot diagnose a condition or produce a prescription. Screen-based results depend on your monitor, your room lighting and your viewing distance. If a check suggests a problem, see an optometrist or ophthalmologist.

How it is built

No accounts, no uploads. The optotypes are drawn as vector paths on a 5x5 grid so the stroke-to-height ratio is correct at any size, and physical sizes derive from a bank-card calibration step. Everything runs on your device and every result stays in your browser.
